Street tuner competitor Sharima Khan is not about to intimidated by the competition when the second National Race of Champions gets going this Sunday at the South Dakota Circuit.
Khan, the driver of a bright pink Honda CRX believes that she has the X factor needed to excel come race day and is prepared to produce podium performances for her sponsors.
“My group is going to be an interesting group because there are a lot of competitors who are gunning for the top spot in the class. It just makes it all the more competitive for us and it will be a good show,” She told Chronicle Sport.
She continued, “I don’t want to single out anyone specifically as race day threats because the races are so closely contested and the differences between first and fifth aren’t very far off, but I can say that I am feeling very confident.”
Work to the car from the last meet were focused around suspension and Khan believes that this too can be a determining factor come race day.
“Can the suspension work do the trick? For me, I think it can because handling is important for me. Anywhere you can pick up fractions of a second here or there means a faster lap time which is always welcome in racing.”
She added, “My father and my mechanics are to thank for these tweaks and I really could not have figured that stuff out on my own. The car feels better from the few sessions I’ve had so I guess it’s just left up to race day.”
Her sponsors include Mohameds Enterprise, Rent-a-tent, Palm Court and Bumper to Bumper.
Meanwhile event has carded 22 races for the day and commences at 08:30
Ansa McAl, Prem’s Electrical, B.M. Soat, Mohamed’s Enterprise, Ready Mix, Special Auto, Japarts, Ticket Master, Palm Court, KGM, MAC Batteries, S. Jagmohan Hardware Supplies and Construction, L Mahabir and Sons Cambio and Choke Gas Station are the event sponsors.
