NSC/Arthur Chung memorial football tournament

Pouderoyen to face Den Amstel, Uitvlugt takes on Eagles today

The National Sports Commission (NSC) in collaboration with the West Demerara Football Association (WDFA) will today stage a football tournament in memory of Guyana’s first president, the late Arthur Chung.
The tournament will see four teams vying for top honours with the opening game bringing together Pouderoyen and Den Amstel in the first semi-final from 15:00hrs.
Game two will see Uitvlugt Warriors taking on Eagles United of Stewartville.
Both matches will be played at the Leonara Track facility’s football field as will the final and third place play-off.

The Leonara facility is just a few villages away from where the former President was born on January 10, 1918. He died on June 23, 2008.
Arthur Chung served as president of Guyana from 1970 to 1980 and would be remembered during what is anticipated to be an exciting tournament.
Both semi-final matches will be played for 40 minutes with two equal halves of 20 minutes.
The two losers will then contest the third place play-off and that match will last for 60 minutes while the final between the two winners of the semi finals will go for 80 minutes.

In the semi-final matches,if the team are locked on goals at the end of regulation time, they will then go into penalty shoot-out with both teams having three kicks each.
For the final, if at the end of regulation time the score is tied, each team will be allowed five free kicks in order to determine the winner.
