COMMANDER of ‘F’ Division (interior), Senior Superintendent Ravindradat Budhram and police ranks on Saturday dispatched supplies to flood-affected communities in Region Eight.
The commander said the supplies were donated by the business community as a result of good police/public relations.
Residents said they are heartened that the Guyana Police Force was supportive and had made the donation.
They also expressed satisfaction with the response of the Government to their needs after the devastating flash floods which left several homes destroyed and villagers displaced.
A team comprising representatives from the Ministry of Public Health, the Ministry of Indigenous People’s Affairs and the Guyana Water Incorporated had visited the affected communities to conduct further assessments of the damage and impact to housing, agriculture and water.
More than 3,000 residents have been affected by the floods and homes, farms and roads have been destroyed.
