GUYANA will participate in the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) Public Investment Management Assessment (PIMA), workshop to be held in St. George’s, Grenada from May 30 – June 2, 2017.
Cabinet on Tuesday approved Financial Analyst II in the Project Cycle Management Division, Tracy Blair and Head of Regional Planning, Miguel Choo-Kang of the Ministry of Finance participation at the workshop. The workshop, which is being conducted by the Caribbean Regional Technical Assistance Centre (CARTAC), will seek to ensure that there exists in participating countries, capacity among officials to manage public investments across the stages of planning, allocation and implementation.
Meanwhile, Cabinet also announced Guyana’s participation at the International Council of Nurses (ICN) and the Council of National Nursing Association Representatives Congress in Barcelona Spain, on May 25 – June 1, 2017.
During the course of this training, the nurses’ Congress is expected to demonstrate and advance the contributions of nursing to sustainable health policies and evidence based health care and to provide opportunities for the exchange of experiences within the nursing community.
Veronica Douglas, a Senior Nurse attached to the Ministry of Public Health (MOPH), will attend represent Guyana at the Congress.
Guyana will also be represented at a workshop on the World Census of Agriculture 2020 round, to be held in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad and Tobago from May 22-26, 2017.
Senior Statistician of the Bureau of Statistics, Ms. Jacqueline Tull will be attending the workshop which is expected to bring together regional Statistical Officers and regional and international specialists. This will facilitate proper planning and preparation for a successful National Agricultural Census in Guyana.
Guyana has not benefitted from an agricultural census since the early 1950s.
