… Second suspect to be charged this week
A 23-year-old ‘D’ Field, Sophia labourer, who police believe was the one who shot and killed bread vendor Andre Alexander on May 5, is expected to be charged this week following legal advice.
He is believed to have been in the company of ex-solder, Shaquille Grant and another man who is still at large. Grant has since been charged with Alexander’s murder and was remanded to prison on May 15.

According to reports, days before the bread vendor was killed, three men stood on a bridge in Sophia and plotted how they would rob him. Their motivation was the gold rings the bread vendor wore. Another suspect, who is still at large, is believed to be the owner of the motorcycle on which two of the killers fled.
Reports indicate that while the suspect has admitted to being among the individuals who robbed Alexander, he has denied shooting the vendor. The robbers had fled with cash and loaves of bread, but did not get the rings.
Alexander died during surgery at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC). Staff there later handed over the rings to the slain man’s relatives.
