A CAMP Street prisoner appeared before City Magistrate Fabayo Azore on Wednesday charged with drug trafficking.

Andrew Anthony, 49, pleaded not guilty to the charge, which alleged that on May 2, 2017 at Camp Street Prison, Georgetown, he had in his possession 269 grammes of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking.

Anthony did not have legal representation and told the court that he is currently serving an 11 year sentence at the Georgetown Prison. The court heard that the accused was searched by prison ranks and the drugs were found in his possession. The matter is adjourned until June 7, 2017.
