ACTOR and playwright,Godfrey Henry on Monday walked out of the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court a free man after a causing death by dangerous driving case was dismissed against him.
The ruling was made by City Magistrate,Leron Daly,after she found that crucial evidence was not presented by the prosecution during trial.
Godfrey Henry, 66, was accused of driving a car, licence number HC 419, in a manner dangerous to the public on April 28, 2016,thereby causing the death of Fitzroy Bailey. Henry is an instructor at the National Drama School, and also works part-time as a hire car driver.
He had denied the charge during his initial court appearance and was released on $300,000 bail. Henry was represented by Attorney Savannah Barnwell in association with Nigel Hughes.
According to reports Bailey died following an accident along Homestretch Avenue, Georgetown. The accident reportedly occurred at about 21:35hrs on April 28, 2016. Investigations revealed that the victim was reportedly crossing the road when he was struck by a speeding car. He sustained injuries and subsequently succumbed.
