THREE armed men robbed a taxi driver of Albouystown on Easter Day of his valuables at Middle Street Mc Doom, East Bank Demerara. Reports indicate that the driver was robbed of $15,000 cash and his cell phone.
The taxi driver was soliciting passengers around the kitty seawall area when the perpetrator joined his motor HC 6578 and requested to be taken to Middle Street Mc. Doom. There one of the three suspects, who were all sitting in the back passenger seat pointed a handgun at him and demanded that he hand over his valuables. The victim became afraid and handed over the abovementioned articles, after which they all ran away west along the street and made good their escape. No shots were fired.
Meanwhile, another robbery-under-arm occurred on Easter Day at Genip Lane East Ruimveldt. Reports indicate that the armed robber attacked the victim, who was on his way to visit a friend. He was standing at the corner of Genip lane when the robber approached him from the eastern side of the said road and held him at gunpoint, relieving him of a $60,000 gold chain and two cell phones valued $90,000.
Police are investigating the robberies in anticipation of catching the perpetrators.
