SOPHIA and West Front Road were big winners when the Round-Robin stage of the Petra Futsal Tournament got going at the National Gymnasium on Tuesday evening.
Playing game two of the evening, Sophia upstaged Albouystown 4-0 with a dominant performance, stemming from a Dwayne Lowe brace (5th and 16th). Sheik Kama (6th) and Desmond Cottam (12th) were both on target for the Sophia side.
Meanwhile, West Front Road stuck three goals past West Back Road thanks to Jamal Pedro (11th), Roy Cassou (12th) and Carl Tudor (22nd).
In the night’s opening game, Tucville went down to North East La Penitence 1-2 with Omallo Williams finding the back of the nets on two occasions (17th and 27th) while Tucville Dennis Edwards scored the consolation goal.
Game three was a 2-2 stalemate between Back Circle and Tiger Bay with Sylvester Richardson (14th) and Stephon McLean (26th) on target for the former and Tiger Bay seeing Alpha Fletchman (15th) and Deon Alfred (30th) on target
Bent Street also drew Broad Street Bullies 2-2 thanks to Keiron Solomon (3rd), Jamal Cozier (23rd) while Bent Street had Dwight Peters (6th) and Colin Nelson (29th) on target.
Sparta Boss needled Agricola champion boys 1-0 thanks to Devon Millington (20th) in game five.
Matches continue on Saturday night when Tiger Bay play Agricola Ballers, Tucville take on West Back Road, Sophia and Broad Street Ballers clash, Bent Street face Albouystown, West Front Road challenge North East La Penitence and Sparta Boss oppose Back Circle.
