AUSTRALIA fast bowler Mitchell Starc has been ruled out of the final two Tests in India after suffering a stress fracture to his right foot.The left-armer, 27, took five wickets in the first two Tests, with the four-match series tied at 1-1.
Cricket Australia said it would name a replacement player in the next few days, with Starc returning to Australia for treatment and rehabilitation.
Jackson Bird, 30, is the reserve fast bowler in Australia’s squad.
“Mitchell experienced some pain in his right foot during the second Test in Bangalore, which unfortunately had not subsided a few days after as we had hoped,” team physio David Beakley said.
“We made the decision to scan his foot in Bangalore this morning and unfortunately it has revealed a stress fracture.”
The third Test begins on Thursday in Ranchi. (BBC Sport)
