A Guyanese man and woman were killed Sunday night in an accident on the New Jersey Turnpike, authorities said.
Fred Egerton, 64, was driving northbound in a 2012 Nissan Altima, when it struck the guard rail, and spun into the path of a tractor-trailer, New Jersey State Police said.
Both Egerton and his passenger, Shimoon Khan, 52, were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the 2016 tractor trailer was uninjured in the crash, which occurred around 6 p.m. near mile post 119. The incident caused the northbound lanes of the Turnpike to be closed. The accident is still under investigation, State Trooper Lawrence Peele said. (NJ.Com)
