Winners Connection, Milerock register Limacol football wins

THE Linden teams in this year’s 2017 Limacol round robin knock-out football tournament, registered wins on Saturday evening when the penultimate matches in the first round concluded. In the first game at the GFC ground Bourda, Winners Connection offed Grove Hi-Tech 3-1 opening the scoring in as early as the 13th minute through Garey Thompson.
Sedrick Hunte (32nd) and Rawle Gittens (69th) added goals for the Winners Connection side as they exhorted their dominance on the match.

However, Grove’s Kevin Padmore would pull one back for his side in the 78th.

In game two, Milerock started its title defence in style by bumping off Northern Rangers 2-1 thanks to Troy Lewis (10th) and Akeem Green (45th) though Northern Rangers Devon Johnson pulled one back in the 90th.

Following the first round, Winners Connection lead Milerock in group A by a positive two goal difference as they both are on three points, while Northern Rangers sit third and Grove fourth.

In Group B, Western Tigers and Eagles are tied for the lead after both teams scored wins in the first round and both having a positive one goal difference. Uitvlugt and New Amsterdam United are yet to score a point and have a negative one goal difference.

Group C has Den Amstel as clear leaders having scored three points thus far, while both Santos and Anns Grove are tied for the second spot having secured a draw in their earlier game. Pouderoyen are yet to score a point and have a negative two goal difference.

In Group D, the Guyana Police Force, Mahaica Determinators, Riddim Squad and Camptown are all tied on one point.

Matches continue tonight at the GFC ground where Winners Connection play Northern Rangers from 18:30hrs while the Guyana Police Force oppose Camptown from 20:00hrs.
