FORMER Caribbean motoracing Champion Kristian Jeffrey returned to winning form last weekend as the Suzuki Challenge series SR3 recommenced in Barbados.Jeffrey, who flew out last Thursday joined up with his father Kevin before returning to radical action at the Bushy Park raceway.
Speaking exclusively to Chronicle Sport, Jeffrey said, ‘It felt good to start the year with strong performances.Jeffrey took four first place finishes and a third to finish the weekend as the winter cup champion.”
“The car was giving problems, but with the help of my Top Power Team and Orry Hunte; we got the car setup down and I felt a lot more comfortable and was able to qualify on the front row both days. I believe this helped a lot for positioning as everyone was in milliseconds within each other. Lots of great racing.”
Qualifying second on the grid, the Guyanese produced an effortless drive over the 15 lap even to come in one and a half second ahead of Suleman Esuf and a further quarter second away Mark Maloney.
Starting the second race on Saturday in P3, the Guyanese maintained that position to pick up another vital podium position and secure the much needed points for the series.
In the third race of the day, he started P2 before moving his way into the top spot more than a second ahead of Esuf and Sean Maloney respectively.
Returning on Sunday, Jeffrey came back into his stride by firstly qualifying on pole before decimating the competition, racing from flag to flag and finishing ahead of the Maloney brothers, Stuart and Sean.
Race two saw him starting sixth. On the charge and pushing ahead, Jeffrey quickly moved up to fourth before a racing incident involving himself, Sean Maloney and Stuart Maloney put him off track. He returned to finish seventh.
In the final race of the weekend, the Guyanese again finished ahead of the curb to wrap up an exciting weekend in the land of the flying.
