SIX women, believed to be strippers, who were taken into police custody after the raid on Rio Inn night club in Queenstown, Georgetown appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan on Wednesday.The women, who are from the Dominican Republic and Cuba, were charged with overstaying their permitted time in Guyana, forgery of an extension arrival stamp in their passports, along with illegal entry.
The three women from the Dominican Republic have been identified as Visleini Ferrier, Carmen Carela and Branelly Montero; they were charged separately with conspiring with persons to forge an arrival stamp on their passport, purporting to show same was issued by the Guyana Immigration and Passport office between November 2016 and January 20, 2017.

Carela and Montero were charged with overstaying in Guyana between November, 2016 and January 20, 2017. Ferrier was charged with entering Guyana by sea on November 12, 2016 at Springlands, Corentyne and failing to present herself to an immigration officer.
The women pleaded guilty to all of the charges and were fined a total of $80,000 or serve 10 weeks imprisonment, after which they will be deported.
Twenty–nine-year old Cuban national, YaShely Boeza confessed to the charge of passport forgery and overstaying her time in Guyana.
Boeza admitted that between December 30, 2016 and January 20, 2017 at Georgetown she conspired with persons to forge an arrival stamp on her Cuban passport, purporting to show same was issued by the Guyana Immigration and Passport office.
The woman further admitted that between December 30, 2016 and January 20, 2017 at Georgetown, while being permitted to stay in Guyana from November 29, 2016 and December 29, 2016, she overstayed in the country.
She was fined a total of $80,000 or serve 10 weeks imprisonment after which she will be deported.
According to reports, the women were arrested on January 20, 2017 when the police descended on the Rio Night Club. The ladies, who are suspected to be strippers at the club, were asked to present their passports when it was discovered that their arrival stamp in Guyana was forged.
