Twenty-eight-year-old, Caesar Gonsalves was on Friday remanded to prion by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan, one day after being busted by police with a rifle and ammo at this Turn Drive, East La Penitence apartment. Gonsalves who was unrepresented pleaded not guilty to the charge of being in possession of an unlicensed .45 rifle and .9mm ammunition on Thursday.

In his defence the man said he lives at Turn Drive, East La Penitence and is the manager of Cuyuni Mining Company, but police prosecutor urged Magistrate Mc Lennan to deny bail given that the ballistic report on the weapon has not yet been made available.
Gonsalves has been remanded to prison until January 24; his case has been transferred to Magistrate Leron Daly.
Meanwhile, at approximately 14:00h police acting on information went to Gonsalves’ home and conducted a search where the gun and ammunition were found in addition to several ecstasy tablets.
In 2013, Caesar was charged at the Providence Magistrate Court for malicious wounding with intent to disable, disfigure, maim or cause grievous bodily harm to a man.
