BRAZILIAN national, Makeal Jackson Da Silva was remanded to prison for the murder of Ked Lewis known as ‘Keno’ or ‘Kennedy’ which occurred in the Cuyuni River. The 24-year-old was not required to plead to the indictable charge read to him by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.

It is alleged that between November 29 and 30, 2016 at Dukwari Backdam, Cuyuni River he murdered Lewis. The Chief Magistrate transferred the matter to the Bartica Magistrates Court for December 15.

According to the police reports, the body of Lewis, who was a miner of Quataman Village, North Rupununi, was found in a pit with multiple wounds at Dukwari Backdam. The report stated that the defendant and Lewis were seen leaving their mining camp but only Da Silva, returned to the camp.
