Back in court again

A North Ruimveldt businesswoman has found herself up the court steps again, facing another charge for human trafficking.
Fifty-year old Patricia Williams who was charged in 2013 under the name of Patricia Crossman for a similar crime made her appearance before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.
Williams denied the allegation which stated that between June1 to July 30, she trafficked a 15-year-old girl for the purpose of sexual exploitation in Region Seven.
The matter was held in-camera given the age of the alleged victim.

Magistrate McLennan remanded Williams and adjourned the matter to January 17, 2017, when it will be heard at the Mahdia Magistrate’s Court.
In 2013, Williams was charged with recruiting a young woman for the purpose of trafficking. It was believed that on June 14, 2013, at Sussex Street, Charlestown, she used the promise of a bartending job to lure a young woman into prostitution at 14 Miles Issano, in Region Seven.
The matter was dismissed after the main witness could not be found.
