A TOTAL weight of 294.2KG of marijuana carrying a street value of $147M was destroyed by ranks of the Guyana Police Force anti-narcotics branch on Wednesday midday.
The illicit substance was burnt at the incinerator on Princes Street in the city under heavy police guard.
Superintendent Wayne Dehart, Officer-in-Charge of the police narcotics branch, told the media that the drugs were netted over a two-year period between 2015 and 2016, following a number of busts.
Tomorrow another quantity of cocaine will be dumped in the Atlantic Ocean in a similar exercise.
