DEFENDING Caribbean Motor Racing Association (CMRA) super-sport Champion Elliot Vieira is counting on a clean sweep this weekend, when the final leg rolls off at the South Dakota circuit.
Speaking to Chronicle Sport, the defending champion contended that while it is a long shot to win the championship, he is determined to pick up three first place finishes. He said: “I’m motivated to win!”
Speaking about the rivalry with his cousins, Matthew and Stephen, Elliot added, “Throughout the year, it has always been close competitions between myself and my cousins. This time around it’s not going to be any different, as we expect the same level of competition. The track has degraded over the past year, so the times would be a little slower, (but) as for the bike, it’s working okay; just a little fine-tuning on the bike is needed,” he explained.
Quizzed about the formation of the recent team Mohammed’s Enterprise, the rider added, “It’s always good to compare your riding skills with professionals and semi-professionals. (It helps you) to understand where you stand, and how you can improve.
“This experience will enhance my understanding of the level of professionalism and skill moving forward in my motor cycle career,” he continued, adding that he is optimistic about learning from them.
While the easy-going youngster is of the view that race day will be a battle of the best bikers in the region, he is still keeping his head high. His Kawasaki ZX6-R is sponsored by Aventura Gold, Mohamed’s Enterprise and Ramchand’s Autobody.
