Persaud retains men’s title

-Deo dethrones Webster
AVINASH Persaud retained his men’s title while Joaan Deo dethroned Shanella Webster on the distaff side in the 2016 Digicel/Grand Coastal National Golf Championships.
After leading on the first day, Persaud had enough left in the tank to stave off the challenges of Munaf Arjune and Ridel Doekoe to take the top prize for another year running.
On day-one, Ravi Ramjit was closest to the pin while Sam Harry picked up the award on day-two.
In the 0-28 net overall, Mahesh Shivraj won top honours after winning on day- two, leaving day-one winner Haresh Tiwari in second place. Both men competed in the 19-29 flight.
In the 10-18 flight, day-one was led by Mohammerd Shafi who went on to win that division while day-two leader Hilbert Fields could only manage second.
In the 0-9 flight, day-one leader Imran Khan had the better of day-two leader Arjune, to take the flight.
In the seniors category, Phillbert London took the top-spot after leading day-one.
Meanwhile,Deo successfully carted off the female trophy after standing up to competition from Webster-who finished second and Myung Ja Kim third.
After the first day,defending champion Webster was leading the charge but Deo’s late surge on day-two ensured that she carted off the title.
On day-one,Jeong Ahyoung got the closest to the pin in the ladies category.
