A fired gutted a pharmacy and hardware store in the wee hours of Wednesday morning at Cane Grove, East Coast Demerara.

The owner, Dr. Shivaram Itwaru said bandits entered the premises and torched the building with diesel after stealing his supplies. He said a recent stock taking estimated that he lost almost $30M.

A report was made to the Cane Grove Police Station, located opposite the building which was gutted. Dr Itwaru said firefighters were unable to save the items in stock.
