SENIOR Superintendent Fizal Karimbaksh will take up the command of ‘E’ Division (Linden and Kwakani), replacing Senior Superintendent Calvin Brutus. Karimbaksh had served as Deputy Commander of ‘A’ Division and Brutus has since been transferred to Police Headquarters, Eve Leary. Others transferred are Inspector Singh, Corporal Kendall and Sergeant George.
Earlier in the year residents had called for Brutus’ removal and according to reports, the regional chairman had written a letter to President David Granger, Minister of Public Security Khemraj Ramjattan and Minister of State Joseph Harmon asking for him to be removed.
This was reportedly prompted by the recent arrest of a councillor. In July 2014, Brutus took up command of ‘E’ Division after Senior Superintendent Owen Trotz had retired.
