RHT Pepsi crush Young Achievers by innings and 33 runs

THE ROSE HALL Town Pepsi Under-19 team crushed Young Achievers of West Berbice by an innings and 33 runs to reach the semi-finals of the Berbice Cricket Board-sponsored New York Business Group cricket tournament. Asked to bat first, Young Achievers were bowled out for a paltry 90. Rickey Daniels 29, Randy Wade 17, and Titus Webster 16, were the only batsmen to reach double figures.
Bowling for Rose Hall Town Pepsi, off-spinner Brandon Corlette took 3-7, while he received support from skipper Brandon Prashad 2-6, Junior Sinclair 2-22 and medium pacer David Prahalad 1-8.
In reply, RHT Pepsi declared at 181-3, with a first-innings lead of 91 runs. Junior Sinclair made an attractive 57 from 83 balls with nine boundaries. Keith Simpson 41 not out, Prashad 28 and Sylus Tyndall 15 not out were the chief contributors with the bat.
Sinclair was the backbone in the run chase. He shared 70 for the second wicket with Prashad and 64 with Simpson.
Batting a second time, with 33 overs remaining in the day’s play, the Young Achievers batsmen failed to apply them, and were dismissed for 58 off 19.4 overs.
Titus Webster was the only batsman to offer any sort of resistance, with an aggressive 27.
Pacer Tyndall took 2-6, while of- spinners Joel Pike 2-10, Junior Sinclair 2-11 and Joshua Gobin 2-13 also bowled well.
