Albouystown resident fined for damage to property, threatening language

AN Albouystown resident was on Wednesday fined $25,000 when he appeared before Magistrate Brenden Glasford at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Night Court to answer to charges of damage to property and threatening language.Gillian St John pleaded guilty to the charge, which stated that on October 10 at 10th Street, Albouystown, Georgetown, he used threatening language towards Derrick Gaskin.
The man further admitted to the charge which alleged that on the said day, he unlawfully and maliciously damaged one tarpaulin valued $10,000 property of Gaskin.
According to reports, the defendant and the virtual complainant are neighbours, but St John has a habit of tormenting Gaskin, which caused the man to place a tarpaulin to block the accused from seeing into his yard.
On the day in question an argument ensued, and St John became annoyed and picked up a cutlass and damaged the tarpaulin. During the argument, St John told his neighbour “don’t look at me before I chop ya up too.”
Nevertheless, St John told the court that he became annoyed because the tarpaulin was blocking the entrance to his yard.
Magistrate Glasford fined St John $25,000 and put him on a six-month bond to keep the peace.
