Durant’s 8 goals spearhead the demoltion of BYD;Mahaica trounce Ann’s Grove 5-1

ON a day when 20 goals were scored in 180 minutes of football, Buxton United’s captain Kobe Durant led with aplomb in blasting 8 of his team’s goals in their 14-0 demolition of fellow Buxton side Buxton Youth Developers(BYD).It was another day in the East Demerara Football Association leg of the GFF/NAMILCO Thunderbolt Flour Power National Intra Association Under-17 League when two more matches were contested on Sunday afternoon.
The feature match of the afternoon while not being a goal feast as the first did produce a fair amount of goals as Mahaica Determinators following up on a come from behind 1-1 draw with Buxton United one week earlier, pounded out a 5-1 win over Ann’s Grove after finding themselves trailing from the 14th minute when Trion Boston put them ahead.
Like they did against Buxton United, Mahaica struck back but this time around it was way earlier and even better, it sparked a flurry of unanswered goals for the Mahaica boys who were determined to take full points from the match.
Julius Hamilton netted the equalising goal and an eventual double for the winners in the 16th and 90th minute while there was one apiece for Nicholas Jardine (23rd), Gary Jardine (35th) and Ozelle Jacobs in the 75th minute.
But stealing the show on the day was Buxton United’s Captain Kobe Durant who was in the finest goal scoring form of his young career when he blasted 8 goals to lead his side to their most emphatic win, 14-0 over their hapless fellow villagers, Buxton Youth Developers.
Durant, who scored his side’s lone goal in the Mahaica draw once again showcased his ability to find the back of the nets. He drilled goals in the 5th, 30th, 35th, 50th, 60th, 65th, 67th and 76th minute and found able support from Troni Semple and Tyrese Anderson who each achieved a brace.
Semple was all glee in the 37th and 70th minute while Anderson displayed similar joy in the 80th and 86th minute. Closing out the demolition were Allister Thomas in the 75th minute and Kifambo Goodman in the 85th minute.
