Soyini scores the big one!

She has won so many pageants before that we almost thought there wasn’t another one she could enter. But Soyini Fraser decided to give the Miss Guyana Universe pageant another shot and won the crown in stunning fashion Saturday evening at the Marriott Hotel in Georgetown, closely edging out Rafieya Husain, another pageant powerhouse who two years ago ended Guyana’s drought at the Miss World pageant when she landed a place in the finals. Soyini was the 2010 Miss Earth Guyana, Guyana’s 2011 representative to the Miss Princess of the World pageant, the 2012 Miss United Nations, the 2014 Miss Jamzone Guyana queen, as well as first runner up in the 2011 Miss World Guyana pageant. After winning the crown Saturday evening, Soyini, the public relations officer at Hits and Jams TV said: “My chest is just trying to contain my heart right now. At the announcement of the top five I was just happy to be the first person called; I was just crazy excited. You can’t even understand how hard it is when you’re up here and you have so many beautiful women in one place and you just wish that you are the one that the judges think can take the next step.” Soyini will represent Guyana at the Miss Universe pageant in the Philippines on January 1, 2017.
