– Calvin Ming second on Radical grid
Elliot Vieira is in pole position at the first super-stock race of round-three of the Caribbean Motor Racing Championship (CMRC) 2016, at the Bushy Park Raceway in Barbados
Elliot, the CMRC defending super-stock champion, set a calm 1:17.975 in wet conditions to take pole, ahead of Barbadian representative Kevin Graham (1:18.841).

Elliot’s countryman and cousin Matthew Vieira will start third on the grid, ahead of Trinidad and Tobago’s Nicholas Gozalves and Kirk Greaves of Barbados.
Speaking after pole, Elliot said, “ Its been a wet day at Bushy Park; I’m glad that im on pole but providing today is dry, the racing will be tough. I still feel good about myself and the bike, and I am confident of producing the results.”
“Obviously, Kevin (Graham) is a good rider but I will not underestimate any of the other riders on that grid; they are all capable of causing upsets,” the defending Champion said.
Meanwhile, Stephen Vieira did not qualify after having to visit the hospital following a fall in practice on Friday; and he will start at the back of the pack.
At the group two level, Shan Sejattan will start at the back of the grid in group two, after being deemed illegal for his class due to a modification on the bonnet.
Group three sees Nazim Gafoor, 3rd on the grid, starting behind the Trinidadian duo of Ronald Wortman and Paul Vieira (pole).
Radical Ming misses pole
Meanwhile, Calvin Ming was edged off the pole position for the first of the Suzuki Radical Races by Barbadian Suleman Esuf.
Ming’s 1:00.280 was beaten by Esuf’s 59.711, with the latter taking pole on the second-to-last qualifying lap.
“The track was wet and I was not getting the grip I needed, but in the end, I ended up getting P2 which is a good result,” said Ming, who confidently stated that come tomorrow, the game plan will be different.
The F1600 driver, who moonlights in the Radicals, said, “the plan for tomorrow is to hopefully get the jump start and slingshot to the first corner and just hold that lead to the end of the race, If not, it would just be a battle and I’d have to get past him during the race.”
Third on that grid is Mark Maloney, with Stuart Maloney fourth and Guyanese Mark Vieira fifth. Kristian Jeffrey will start at the back of the pack after spinning out during qualification.
Today’s action commences from 08:00hrs.
