IN recognition of International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples, which was celebrated two Tuesdays ago, Food for the Poor (Guyana) Incorporated (FFP) donated a wide variety of clothing and bed sheets to the Amerindian hostel to assist that institution in its efforts to make life more comfortable for the 125 residents it houses.Shaundelle Inniss-Munroe, nurse attached to the hostel, said that they were grateful for the donation and hoped that the collaboration between the Ministry of Indigenous Peoples’ Affairs and FFP would continue.

Over the years, FFP has been contributing substantially to the wellbeing of the Amerindian community. The non-governmental organization recently donated three computer systems to the Amerindian Villages of South, Central and North Rupununi.

The computer systems in Maruranau, South Rupununi and Parisharra, Central Rupununi are already functioning.

The donation of the computer systems to the Amerindian Villages is expected to contribute significantly to the educational needs of the indigenous peoples of our country.
