Rutherford’s 93 sparks Guyana Under-19s to victory over TT

SHERFANE Rutherford registered a superb 93 to spark Guyana Under19s to a comfortable 52-run victory over Trinidad and Tobago in their fourth round 50-overs encounter at the Stubbs playing field in St Vincent yesterday.In the other matches, Barbados made light work of the Jamaicans at the Park Hill playing field while Windward Islands hammered ICC Americas by eight wickets at the Arnos Vale Sports Complex.
Batting first, Guyana amassed 229 for 6 in their allotted 50 overs with Rutherford being the principal scorer with a match-winning 93 that was studded with four sixes and three fours off 140 balls.
He shared a 38-run third-wicket stand with Bhaskar Yadram (17) and 124-run fifth-wicket partnership with Raymond Perez who made 55 that contained two sixes and three fours off 68 balls. Ronaldo Ali Mohammed was unbeaten on 22 (2x6s and 1×4 off 9 balls).
Jarlanie Seales (9-0-37-2) and Jonathan Bootan (7-1-34-2) were the main wicket-takers for T&T.
In reply, Trinidad and Tobago were bundled out for 177 in 44 overs. Joshua da Silva topscored with 73 while Seales contributed 41.
Kheshram Seyhodan (10-0-32-3), Marlon Hubbard (9-0-33-3), Rutherford (6-1-26-1) and Keemo Paul (7-0-29-1) were Guyana’s wicket-takers.
Jamaica were dismissed for 121 in 33.4 overs with Javelle Glenn and Michael Frew getting 26 each. Joshua Bishop was the chief destroyer and finished with excellent figures of 9.4-0-36-6.
Shian Brathwaite was undefeated on 41 when Barbados romped to victory at 122 for 4 in 31.1 overs.
Emmanuel Stewart and Alick Athanaze were unbeaten on 57 each when Windwards celebrated a comprehensive eight-wicket victory over ICC Americas who batted first and made only 165 for 5 in their 50 overs (Arslan Khan 86, Sagar Patel 23). Windwards scored 168 for 2 off 30.4 overs.
