Great challenge ahead for CFU – Forde

By Ras Wadada

PRESIDENT of the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Wayne Forde, in his overview of the recent elections of the Caribbean Football Union (CFU), believes there is a great challenge ahead for the elected executive of the Union.“I think the actual outcome of the elections is going to create some unique challenges for unity within the Union and this is simply because none of the top football nations of the region is included on the executive – Jamaica, Trinidad, Cuba or Haiti. I think it’s going to be a great challenge for the executive going forward. Already the Spanish countries have written a letter indicating that they are considering separating from the Union.
“The elections results left a bitter taste in the mouths of some of the member associations and most definitely the Union will be having some interesting days ahead.”
The president has got to find a way to bring the Union together and honestly, that is going to be quite an uphill task for him especially when you look at the composition of the Executive,” the GFF head opined.
Forde added that Guyana reiterated its commitment, at the Ordinary Congress, to work with the members of the Union to realise a Caribbean Professional League.
Guyana was represented at last Saturday’s Ordinary Congress held in Miami by the GFF president and second vice-president Rawlston Adams.
