…Matches continue this weekend; Cougars, Paradise Invaders latest winners

PLAY in the Berbice Football Association (BFA) leg of the GFF/NAMILCO Flour Power National Intra Association Under-15 league is set to continue this weekend with five matches.Last weekend, only two matches were possible, owing to heavy rainfall which affected all the participating associations, Bartica being the only other association where matches were played.
At the Mahaicony ground tomorrow from 14:00hrs, Hopetown United Rangers will face off against Monedderlust and over at the Esplanade ground, New Amsterdam from 16:00hrs, New Amsterdam United will oppose Paradise Invaders.
On Sunday, three matches will be played. At Rosignol ground from 14:00hrs, Rosignol United will play Lichfield Nuggets Youth and Sports while two matches will commence at 16:00hrs.
The Scottsburg ground will host the Corriverton Links vs Canefield Diamond Strikers clash and over at Burnham Park, Cougars will oppose Mahaicony Thunder Hawks.
In results from the two matches that were contested last Saturday, Shane Hamilton blasted five goals to lead Cougars to an exciting come-from-behind 6-4 win over Canefield Diamond Strikers who had taken the lead two minutes into the match through an Alade Grant goal.
Grant’s goal sent Cougars into overdrive with Hamilton firing in the equaliser in the 9th minute before blasting goals again in the 12th, 22nd, 60th and 80th minute. Wayne Joseph offered able support to Hamilton with a pair of goals in the 57th and 83rd minute.
Canefield got their other goals from Akeem Bovell (27th, 72nd) and Nkrumah Smith in the 76th minute.
Over at the Mahaicony ground, Paradise Invaders clipped Mahaicony Thunder Hawks 4-0 on account of an own goal in the 4th minute; Nial Reynolds’ 12th and 47th minute strikes and Gladwin Humphrey’s 64thminute effort.
