JANIEL Howard, called ‘JP’, one of the prime suspects in the grenade attack on the Kaieteur News, turned himself in at the Ruimveldt Police Station Monday evening after a wanted bulletin was issued for him.

The bulletin stated that Howard, 30, of Lot 322 Section ‘C’, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown was “wanted by the police for questioning in relation to ‘attempting to cause explosion’ which occurred on June 6, 2016, at Saffon Street, Charlestown, Georgetown.”
But the police are still to capture 20-year-old Shemar Wilson, called ‘Abdue’, who is also wanted in connection with the grenade-throwing incident.
Wilson is from Lot 43 North Sophia, Georgetown, and Lot 51 West La Penitence. Among the suspects now in custody is an individual who allegedly handed over money and the fragmentation grenade to the individuals who threw the device near to the vehicle of Kaieteur News publisher, Glenn Lall. He was detained on Sunday. An individual who had borrowed the car that was used in the attack is also said to be among those detained. Reports disclosed that three persons, including the driver, were in the silver-grey Toyota Spacio from which the grenade was lobbed. Prior to the attack, the occupants were seen parked in James Street, Albouystown. It is believed that they drove past Kaieteur News twice before returning to James Street. After tossing the grenade, the men headed north down Saffon Street, but later crashed in the vicinity of Norton Street and Mandela Avenue. Three men, including an individual in a hooded garment, reportedly fled from the car.
