THE B-3 DIVISION community police group of Berbice recently made several donations to the needy on the Corentyne, including victims of piracy.Liaison Officer of the Number 75 Village, Corriverton, Berbice Community Policing Group (CPG), Radica Ramanadan, told the Guyana Chronicle recently that the body has been assisting persons in the communities covered by the division.

Recently, the group donated items to assist the relatives of Dochan Sukra, 54, of Number 55 Village.

The man is among five fishermen whose bodies have not been located after they were dumped overboard by pirates in the waters of the Corentyne River late last month.

The group also donated a wheelchair to accident victim Catherina Bhola of Number 69 Village on the Corentyne. The woman, who was bedridden following an accident, is now able to move around in her wheelchair.

Ramanandan said that in addition to its security activities, its humanitarian gestures also supplement its security mandate.
