Ramada Casino robbery… Prime suspects among several in custody, cash found

AS POLICE continue investigations into the Ramada Hotel Casino robbery, almost $1 million of the stolen cash was discovered at a Vreed-en-Hoop, West Coast Demerara home Sunday night.Arrested at the time was Junior Stewart of Kitty, Georgetown. He was at the time hiding out at his sister’s residence in Vreed-en-Hoop. It was disclosed that Stewart, who was recently released on bail, is facing unlawful firearm and possession charges before the court.

Following last Friday morning’s daring attack on the Casino, investigators discovered that a security guard who had left work hours before the heist was involved in plotting the crime.

The gunman, Wayne Griffith, who was captured at the scene, has provided police with the identities of the rest of the gang, and the security guard attached to the hotel was subsequently taken into custody.

Police, having searched the homes of the suspects, discovered various pieces of evidence that confirmed their identities.

Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum confirmed that several persons are in custody assisting with investigations, including the prime suspects held.
