GFF STAG Elite Beer League Buxton beat GFC 2-0, Pele get past GDF 3-1

BUXTON United and Pele registered 2-0 and 3-1 wins against Georgetown Football Club (GFC) and Guyana Defence Force (GDF) respectively, the Guyana Football Federation’s (GFF) STAG Elite League continued on Sunday evening at the GDF ground, Camp Ayanganna, in round 11 matches.Denvin Ennis netted a double for Buxton United in the 30th and 40th minutes to take his team to eight points from 11 matches in the league. Buxton United have so far won two matches and have lost six while drawing three. They have so far scored eight goals and conceded 15.
GFC, on the other hand, remain on one point from their 11 matches having only secured one draw, scored seven goals and conceded 31.
In the feature game on Sunday evening, Pele with 13 points to their name from ten matches, added three points to take them to 16 points from 11 matches and propelled them to fourth in the standings, four points behind third-place team Alpha United (20 points).
Gregory `Jackie Chan’ Richardson bagged a double for Pele in the 30th and 40th minutes, while his teammate Omallo Williams supported with a 58th minute goal. For the soldiers, Selwyn Isaacs pulled one back in the 70th minute.
To date, Pele have won five matches. They lost a similar number and drew one. They have so far scored 13 goals and conceded 13.
GDF, on the other hand, remain on 14 points from their 11 matches. They won four, lost five and drew two. So far the army team have scored 17 goals and conceded 22.
The STAG Elite League will continue this evening with another double-header at the Camp Ayanganna ground.
In the opening game from 18:00hrs, Fruta Conquerors will face Monedderlust while points leaders Slingerz come up against Alpha United from 20:30hrs.
Slingerz have 30 points from 10 victories and in the process they have scored 26 goals while conceding five.
Alpha United, however, won six of their 10 matches to date and lost two while also drawing two. They have so far scored 26 goals and conceded nine and have 20 points.
After this evening’s matches, three more rounds in the league will be played before the semifinals and final which is tentatively set for June 5.
The winners of the competition will be rewarded with $4M, while the other top three finishers will receive $2M, $1M and $500 000 respectively.
