WAYNE `Big Truck’ Braithwaite won the World Boxing Association (WBA) Fedelatin and the World Boxing Council (WBC) Latino cruiserweight titles when he defeated Yohan Pablo Hernandez on March 29, 2008 in Germany.Braithwaite was knocked down once in the first round but won by technical knockout (TKO) decision when referee Jose Antunez stopped the fight at one minute and 52 seconds of the third round after Hernandez visited the canvas three times.
The victory was the 23rd for Braithwaite who stopped 19 opponents up to that time. Braithwaite has been away from competitive boxing since October 2012.
Braithwaite, the second Guyanese to win a world title, had his last victory on March 6, 2010. He fought Adam Harris at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Connecticut and needed only one round to dispose of his opponent.
The loss to Braithwaite was the first defeat for the Cuban-born Hernandez in 15 fights. The German resident went on to win the International Boxing Federation cruiserweight title and has been undefeated since losing to Braithwaite.
