IN front of a packed Kennard Memorial Turf Club (KMTC), newcomer Golden Blue Echo of the Karibee Rice Stables whipped a field of top animals to claim the D1 and Lower feature race on Sunday at the club’s Bush Lot Farm, Corentyne, Berbice, race track.Dubbed the club’s annual Phagwah horse race meet, horse racing fans were greeted to six top-notch races after the G Class race was cancelled because of limited entries.
However, the feature one-mile event has lived up to its expectations, and was definitely the best event of the day.
Jockey Ajai Sansaran, decided to let the animal go from the start, giving it full rein as it set a searing pace throughout.
Coming into the homestretch, it was all Golden Blue Echo; and with jockey Sansaran showing his brilliance in the stirrups, the animal was able to romp home by about one length.

Results in the other races read:
L2 and Lower – Secret Thinker, Blue Lightening, Confusion and Key for the Killer.
H1 and Lower – Weekend Surprise, Bird Man and Princess Maya.
L1 and Lower – Smarty Light, Confusion, Royal Stallion and Quincy.
J and Lower – Massapaquea Dr., Liquid Lion, Party Time and Little.
K and Lower – Plain Land, Red Region, Sunny Silence and Confusion.
Jokey Randolph Richmond was adjudged champion jockey, while Amarnauth Racing Stable was the best racing stable.
