Guyanese remanded in Barbados over multi-million- dollar drug bust

A Guyanese man is among two persons who were remanded to prison Friday following a $6M drug bust at Carlisle Bay, Barbados.A report in the Barbados Today newspaper noted that Guyanese national Neville Hillary Phagu, 39, and Barbadian Jeffrey Harrington Callender, 48, of Coral Land, Haggatt Hall, St Michael, appeared in the District A Magistrates Court Friday and were remanded until March 31.
They were represented by attorneys Satcha Kissoon and Romain Marshall and were jointly charged with possession of cocaine, possession with intent to supply cocaine, trafficking cocaine, possession of cannabis, possession with intent to supply cannabis, and trafficking cannabis. Phagu was additionally charged with importation of cocaine and importation of cannabis.
The newspaper article noted that police seized one boat, 122.9 kg of cocaine and 94 kg of cannabis during the operation.
