The Guyana Chronicle is apologizing for publishing an online article which stated that a prison officer died from injuries sustained during a confrontation with prisoners at the Camp Street Prison this morning.

Fortunately, the prison officer is alive but is in a critical condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC). Guyana Chronicle sincerely regrets the error and has since deleted the story. We apologise for any undue alarm it has caused.
