Bagotstown Warriors crush Champion Boys … Patentia Street Ballers suspended

THE Vergenoegen tarmac came alive on Monday night as the West Bank/Coast and East Bank Zone of the Guinness Greatest in the Street continued.Bagotstown Warriors crushed Champion Boys 5-0 with Troy Bascom leading the way with a double. Rufeo Wright drew first blood for his side in the ninth minute then Bascom joined the party in the 12th to double the lead and followed with another goal the very next minute.
At that point it seemed that Champion Boys had no answer as the opposition continued to capitalise. Rickford Henry’s 14th minute goal sent the match into halftime with the eventual victors ahead, 4-0.
Eon Alfred accounted for the other goal in the second half (24th) as Bagotstown cruised to an easy victory.
Harmony Ballers ‘B’ brushed aside Crane Raiders 3-0 with a double from Nkosi Holder (3rd & 12th) and a fifth-minute goal from Keifer Adams.
DeKinderen United trounced West Side Ballers 2-0. Goals came off the boot of Michael Bennett (9th) and Linden Bourne (21st).
Harmony Ballers needled Water Street Agricola with Verman Mentore finding the decider in the 23rd minute.
Game five saw Samaroo Dam and Agricola Upsetters take it down to the wire after they could not break the 1-1 deadlock at regulation time. Agricola Upsetters then won 5-4 on sudden-death kicks. Earlier in the match Michael Younge scored for the victors in the 14th minute while Kevin Humphrey equalised in the 16th.
Shattaville Gunners and Comfort Ballers played to a stalemate in the match that followed but Shattaville won 2-1 on penalty kicks.
Showstoppers and Brothers United also had a close battle but the latter won 3-2 in the penalty shootout.
Meanwhile, Best Road Ballers won via a walkover from Patentia Street Ballers. The organisers moved to suspend Patentia Street Ballers and all their players for one year for their failure to show up.
