THE Petra Organisation/Milo Schools football, played at the Ministry of Education ground, saw St John College, Mae’s Secondary and St Rose’s High School coming out victorious in their respective match. Playing in the opening game one on the fourth day of Georgetown’s premier schools football tournament, St John’s College eased past St George’s High 3-2.
Joel Yhap’s goals in the 14th and 43rd minutes, coupled with Tofani Persaud’s goal in the 48th minute did the damage for St John’s College. St George’s Rayheim Augustus scored both of his team’s goals, doing so in the 46th and 53rd minutes.
In game two, Mae’s ran riot on Freeburg Secondary, whipping them 5-0. Darshawn Persaud scored a hat-trick (23rd, 28th and 59th minute), while Isaiah Stephen (6th) and Diego Britton (13th) netted a goal each.
Queenstown and Tutorial Secondary School played to a 1-1 draw in the heated contest.
Wellinson Dos Santos put Queenstown Secondary in the lead, with his goal in the 20th minute but bad defending resulted in an own-goal in the 37th minute.
In the day’s final game, a collective team effort saw St Rose’s clinch a 3-1 win over Charlestown Secondary.
Akeem Wilson (25th), Kegan Howard (35th) and Anthony Daly (46th) found the back of the net for St Rose’s High. Luckhort Forde scored his school’s lone goal in the 43rd minute. (Rawle Toney)
