BERBICE High School and Rosignol Secondary School both took first innings honours in their respective semi-final and in the process reached the final of the A. Ally & Sons Under-17 Inter-Secondary School two-innings cricket competition in Berbice.At Cumberland, Berbice High School beat Skeldon High School on first innings. Skeldon High batted first and made 113 all out, with Sanjay Deochand top-scoring with 46 while Michael Burnett made 22 not out.
Bowling for Berbice High, off-spinner Abdul Ramsammy took 4-26, leg-spinner Dion Sinclair took 3-12 and Brandon Pydanna 2-11.
In reply, Berbice High School made 188-5 declared, with Alex Algoo stroking an entertaining 119 (11 fours and 5 sixes). Dion Sinclair and Malcolm Mickle contributed 27 and 19 respectively.
Skeldon High, batting a second time, reached 27.
Over at Blairmont, Rosignol Secondary got the better of the highly favoured Lower Corentyne Secondary School in their drawn match.
Batting first, Rosignol Secondary made 164 all out, with Chandradat Veersammy contributed 97 (10 fours and 2 sixes) to the total.
Bowling for Lower Corentyne, Junior Sinclair took 5-41, while Kevlon Anderson had 2-29 and Keith Simpson 2-25.
Lower Corentyne in reply were bowled out for 154. Junior Sinclair and Kevlon Anderson made 32 and 20 respectively
Rosignol pacers Keyon Gangoo and Javed Karim were the chief destroyers with 4-50 and 4-41 respectively.
The final of the competition is billed for Thursday at the Cumberland Ground.
