DOCTORS at the Georgetown Public Hospital are monitoring the condition of the Belize student who was recently shot twice as he was standing outside of his premises in Cummingslodge. On Monday, the Guyana Chronicle Newspaper was informed that the young man, Garfield Dennison, 30, was recovering from the gunshot wounds he sustained from a lone assailant, who thus far remains unknown.

Police sources have confirmed to this publication that as part of the normal procedures in serious crimes, persons who are believed to have a possible motive to harm a victim would be questioned.

It was communicated to this publication that the former girlfriend of the injured man is on the police radar for questioning, but she is nowhere to be found.

Asked if the ex-girlfriend is a suspect in the crime, a police source told this publication that they are seeking the woman just for routine questioning in relation to the matter.

Approximately 21:15hrs on Thursday last Mr Dennison was shot in the chest and left hand.

The man had moments before dropped off his new girlfriend at home after an outing.

Mr Dennison who once ran for the presidency of the University of Guyana Student Movement is a law student.
The police are not looking at robbery as the motive for the shooting since the valuables of the young man were all intact.
The investigations into the matter are ongoing.
