THE Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples commemorated the 55th anniversary of its constitution with expressions of friendship and solidarity, yesterday.President of the Guyana-Cuba Solidarity Movement (GCSM), Haleem Khan, said the occasion was to bring up-to-date what has been done with great effort and under unbelievable challenges, but always with support of thousands of friends who share the same dream that a better world is still possible.
He noted that uncountable actions carried out by the Solidarity Movement during all these years have grown, and solidarity groups have played an outstanding role in the struggle, particularly for the freedom of the Cuban Five and the claim for an end to the economic, financial and trade blockade imposed by the USA, which has remained unchanged for more than a half century.
He said that the Cuban Institute has the purpose of promoting and explaining to the peoples of the world relations of solidarity that sparked the Cuban Revolution.
It is the vehicle to reach around the globe to people who are in solidarity with Cuba, delivering a strong message that solidarity not only benefits Cuba, but the peoples of the world who are aspiring to promote the idea that a better world is possible for all.
“Now more than ever, solidarity becomes a struggling banner in a world threatened by a complex context of political, economic and social crises, environmental disasters and wars… Our institute reassures its principle to move forward along with the goal of making even more friends, in favour of the just causes, not only for Cuba, but also for the peoples who need it,” according to the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples.
“We can proudly say that … we will never betray our brothers and sisters who have supported our revolutionary process. Let us go forward with the idea to look towards the future that we want to build, with well-being and prosperity in this Caribbean Region that keeps us together forever.”
