At your service

It seems that all the money spent on audits by the government is at least achieving one goal: everyone is scrambling to declare their innocence and credibility. NICIL’s CEO, Winston Brassington, is one example after he called a press conference to clear the air about the government holding company, following audit reports of several breaches and other shortcomings made under the PPP administration. Brassington put up a convincing poker face, stating that he isn’t worried about his position at NICIL, and calling himself a servant of the government.
How quaint, servants still exist in these days. Way to dust the blame off your shoulders Brassington – by admitting that you were a mere puppet. Onlookers are saying that Brassington got a lot of belly – in more ways than one – and that he is ensuring that he won’t be the only one to be taken down when that time comes. But that’s the question lots of people are still asking: Will that time ever come?

NOT ALL MILK IS GOOD MILK
Many took to social media to partake in the sharing of a report in which the Government Analyst – Food and Drug Department advised consumers against purchasing powdered milk in unlabeled, transparent bags – a habit that is perhaps decades-old to Guyanese. Retailers were also warned to stop repackaging milk as it does not represent the true nutritional value of the product, among other health violations. Perhaps what made this post so interesting is the memories it recalled from many a Guyanese childhood. Many others welcomed the reintroduction of order to the industry, but some wondered about the pockets of the poor man – a majority in our beautiful country. Since packaged milk is supposedly a must and we are to do away with this nostalgia-inducing custom, will the cost of packaged milk then be made more affordable? I never said I had the answers, folks.

JAGDEO FEEDING THE POOR
Imagine the former President, Bharrat Jagdeo, has put on his compassion garb and has been up and about, feeding the poor and the needy across the country. Seems like all those labels given him: greedy, heartless, etc. etc might just not be true. The Right Honourable Opposition Leader has been making the rounds with his sidekick, Clement Rohee, hosting Christmas parties at Better Hope and Bath – seems like the PPP will stick to familiar turfs in their Christmas hustings, unlike the President, who was seen in Buxton and Lusignan. Cheers everybody!
