Man shoots mechanic for ‘parking bad’

POLICE are hunting for a man who shot 39-year-old mechanic Lawrence Moore in the leg over an argument about bad parking.

The argument reportedly stemmed from a pool of water lodged on Aubrey Barker Road in South Ruimveldt shortly after the downpour yesterday morning.

Police say that Moore, who is now hospitalised at the GPHC, was tending to a motorcar when a passing vehicle suddenly came upon the pool of water.
Moore reportedly left what he was doing to park his personal vehicle on the roadway to prevent other vehicles from having the same experience as the previous driver.

This action effectively slowed traffic, thereby causing congestion, given the narrowness of the road.

As one motorist attempted to pass and realised that the badly parked vehicle was causing a build-up of traffic, he came out of his vehicle to confront Moore, and an argument ensued.
Moore removed the vehicle from the roadway and parked it on his bridge, but the argument with the man continued.
The man then whipped out a firearm and shot Moore in the leg before returning to his vehicle and driving away.

The injured man was rushed to the hospital, and the police commenced their investigations into the matter. A senior detective confirmed yesterday that the shooter has not yet been located, but ranks are working on information that could lead to his capture.
