THERE is much buzz around town about the upcoming Miss Guyana Universe Pageant, all the more so since franchise holder, Odinga Lumumba has sworn that the caliber of contestants this year is by far the best he’s ever had. Well, the pageant proper kicks off at the Princess Hotel, at Providence, East Bank Demerara), on Sunday, and from all accounts, the competition promises to be ‘electric’.
Judging from the performance of the nine contenders when the event was launched not so long ago, and during the airing Thursday of the Intelligence Segment on NCN Channel 11, it was evident that each girl was out to outdo the other come pageant night.
Well your only way of soaking up some of the fun and excitement is by ensuring you get your tickets early, as it is said that this year’s pageant has attracted a larger than usual magnitude of patrons.
Those competing for the coveted title this year are Shauna Ramdian, Zeena Bland, Najuma Nelson, Babita Seelall, Malike Russel, Tricia Quail, Diana Hamad, Kiswana Jefford and Melissa Defrietas.
