KROSS Kolor Records has done it again, and just might have pulled out all the stops in the music industry for the 2015 Christmas season in Guyana. On Sunday last, the KKR team created history by launching the first ever all-original Christmas album in the country, and they did it in fine style.
Under the stars on the lawns of Colgrain House, now home to the Ministry of Tourism, in a semi-formal setting, patrons came out to experience a taste of Guyanese Christmas, as the event was themed.
It was indeed a jump-start to the upcoming holiday season, as it featured a masquerade display and performances from Shawn English, Gavin Mendonca, Jovinski, Leeanna Allen, T’Shanna Cort, Shivanie, Chynah, Tennicia De Freitas and Wilbur ‘B52’ Levans, who are all featured on the album.
The idea for the album was birthed in early June this year by Melissa ‘Vanilla’ Roberts and Simeon Browne and production began shortly after in July. It is a collaboration of young artistes, as it was aimed at empowering young people in the creative industry with a strong emphasis on working together.
Kross Kolor Records has, over the years, played a pivotal role in the Guyanese music industry, not only by producing some of the top acts, but also great quality music.
This new initiative puts the country’s stamp on Christmas music worldwide, and is another representation of the diversity of our nation as the studio continues in its quest to take Guyanese music to the world.
