LOCAL outfit, Signal Productions, held a successful screening mid last month of the movies, THE CONVERT and THE UNBELIEVING MOM in neighbouring. The event, which was held at the Guyana Mission on Henckarronstraat in downtown Paramaribo, saw about 120 persons in attendance, among them Ms. Lesley Collins, Minister Counsellor; Ms S. Jahangier, Deputy Head of the National Bureau for Gender Policy, Suriname; and Mr. Arlington Bancroft, Head of the Guyana Consulate in Nickerie.
After the screening, the appreciative guests sat around, hoping for an encore. Signal, taking the hint, obliged with a third movie, WHERE IS EVERYBODY, a film that celebrates Guyanese in the Arts and Sports who have performed outstandingly on the world stage.
Signal Productions has been encouraged to take these movies throughout the Caribbean and further afield.
There were impressive live performances by veteran singer, CHARMAINE BLACKMAN and the young and talented EGO.
All in all, it was a treat, and people loved it.
