Youths remanded for armed robbery

NINETEEN-year-old Germaine Scott and 18-year–old Shemar Singh of 67 Durban Street, Georgetown, are alleged to have robbed Chris Forde of $2000 and Jeremy Jarvis of a haversack, hat, shirt and one cellphone, to a total value of $30,000.These incidents allegedly occurred on November 1, when the defendants were in the company of others and were armed with a cutlass.

Arraigned before city Magistrate Judy Latchman yesterday, they both pleaded not guilty to the charges, and their attorney, Mr Paul Fung-A-Fat requested that his clients be placed on bail, since the offences are bailable.
He also said the items were not found on the person of either of his clients, and that they were never placed on an I.D. parade.

The police prosecutor in her objection to bail, mentioned that the cellphone was found on the number two defendant; that the weapon used, a cutlass, is considered a serious weapon; and that the defendants were re-captured by the virtual complainant, Forde, after they had fled the scene.

The accused were both remanded, and are expected to make their next court appearance in Court Two on November 12.
